The Magic of Caramel

The Magic of Caramel

Are you one of those people who think that caramel sauce is only good on ice cream?

Well the truth is, caramel sauce is so versatile and shows up in more places than we sometimes give it credit for.

Today we will remind you of its different uses, but first, did you know that ordinarily homemade caramel sauce contains cream, butter, sugar, and corn syrup?  While the store bought ones sometimes just put "caramel flavor" to make you think that it's caramel, while it's mostly just corn syrup?  This is especially true for the ones sold in plastic bottles or glass bottles with pumps.

At Hey Boo, we use coconut milk, so it's 100% plant-based without the animal protein.  Hence, you can leave our caramel sauce on your kitchen counter even after you open it as it is stable and doesn't require refrigeration.  Because seriously, who has time to wait around for it to warm up?

Lastly, we also do not use corn syrup in any of our products, whether high-or-low fructose.  No corn syrup means it's non-gmo.  As a matter of fact, we have started using organic cane sugar for our caramel sauce.

So, without further adieu, lets jump into the applications of this magic sauce, shall we?

Spoon Over Cakes

Whether it's a slice of chocolate cake or cheesecake, you can always spoon some caramel sauce over to make it even better!  Yum.

Drizzle Over Coffee

The line at Starbucks got you down?  No worries!  Make your own caramel macchiato, frappuccino, or latte at home!  And if you fancy a little extra caramel than what you normally get at the coffee shop, now you can just go for it!  Treat-yo-self.

Schmear It Everywhere

Here's a true story.  Ever since we started schmearing bagels with our own coconut caramel sauce in the morning, we can't eat our bagels without it anymore.  Oy vey!

In photo below, we have caramel on one bagel and coconut oil on another.

More Breakfast Applications

Drizzle a bit of caramel happiness over your morning routine, whether it's toast or crepes or yogurt.

The following is a great vegan brownie recipe by Molly Buszard ( follow her at @mollybhealthy ).

At age 19, Molly suffered from coeliac and RA but was able to keep her health issues under control through exercising, living with a positive mindset, and by following a strict gluten and dairy free diet.

Molly:  "These brownies look and taste like the real deal. They are deliciously moist and gooey plus I topped mine with a salted caramel sauce using Hey Boo's coconut caramel."

We couldn't agree more.... these brownies are amazing!
